Position

At the Heinz offices in Zeist the position of Indirect Tax Manager has arisen. The Indirect Tax Manager reports to the Controller – Heinz Continental Europe. He or she will be responsible for the coordination and oversight of Indirect Tax planning and managing the VAT compliance for Heinz Benelux and the new Heinz European Supply Chain Company (BaseCo), located in Zeist. More specifically the main activities and responsibilities include:

  • Provide VAT Advice to the business both in The Netherlands as well as to the European entities;
  • Assist in and manage from a VAT perspective the roll out of a new VAT system, VAT automation and VAT Mapping.
  • Ensure compliance with VAT and Indirect Tax reporting requirements;
  • Coordinate the preparation and filing of VAT, Intrastat and all other indirect tax returns;
  • Review and Audit the returns for accuracy and compliance issues;
  • Main point of contact with local representatives and/or tax advisors and local tax authorities during tax audits;
  • Preparation of documentation in order to respond to a request by local tax authorities in any country in which BaseCo is VAT registered;
  • Dispute resolution following a tax audit by the local tax authorities;
  • Resolve day-to-day queries in respect of AP, AR and inter-company transactions;
  • Onboarding new customers and new vendors to the model from an indirect tax perspective;
  • Ensure operational controls around Customs clearance and compliance are in place;
  • Understanding the impact of indirect tax legislative change on the BaseCo structure and related IT requirements;
  • Understanding the impact of ongoing business transformation projects on the BaseCo structure (eg, acquisitions, disposals, expansion of the model to new markets, etc);
  • Optimise VAT cash flows across the supply chain structure.

 

Candidate

The ideal candidate has a degree in tax or finance and some 5-7 years of experience in VAT as an in-house tax specialist or at a big 4 consultancy firm. You are familiar with financial systems (SAP  or similar ERP system). You have good analytical and problem solving skills and excellent interpersonal skills. You are self-motivated and you are able to work in an environment that requires the ability to provide clear guidance and communication to Heinz finance and commercial leaders. You can communicate well with a wide range of nationalities, professional backgrounds and skill levels. Furthermore you have good organizational skills and a good sense of customer service. You are pro-active, can manage and prioritize well. Fluency in Dutch and English is a prerequisite.
