Bunge’s activities are amongst others: originating oilseeds and grains from the world's primary growing regions and transporting them to customers worldwide; crushing oilseeds to make meal for the livestock industry and oil for the food processing, food service and biofuel industries; producing bottled oils, mayonnaise, margarines and other food products for consumers; crushing sugarcane to make sugar, ethanol and electricity; milling wheat and corn for food processors; and selling fertilizer to farmers.

Position

At the office in Rotterdam, one of the major holding and treasury locations of the Bunge group, the position of a Tax Manager EMEA has arisen. He or she reports to the Tax Director EMEA also located in Rotterdam. The Tax Manager EMEA will pro-actively identify, recommend and implement strategic tax planning for the EMEA group, especially through Dutch Tax Efficient vehicles. Other main tasks and responsibilities are assisting in Tax Reporting, managing local CIT and VAT compliance for the Dutch holding and finance companies. More specifically the tasks and responsibilities include:

  • Participates in definition and implementation of specific tax planning and compliance programs and initiatives.
  • Supports development and recommendation of tax policy and provides technical advice with respect to areas of assigned responsibility.
  • Coordinate transfer pricing policy in EMEA and other tax related document retention policies.
  • Identifies opportunities for maximizing cash flow and minimizing effective tax rate and financial statement tax expense while maintaining highest standards of compliance and integrity.
  • Works with business personnel to identify and eventually implement approved tax opportunities and other key business initiatives.
  • Coordinate the tax returns preparation for Dutch entities, review/preparation of Quarterly & Annual US GAAP reporting for taxes, including estimated tax provision modelling.
  • Drafts or reviews and critiques tax-sensitive documentation (including non-standard terms and conditions of contracts and agreements).
  • Researches and analyzes tax laws and regulations at EMEA level. Monitors tax legislative and regulatory developments at EMEA and OECD levels.
  • Qualifies and Manages external tax consultants and relationship with Dutch Tax Authorities and Company Auditors.
  • Willingness to travel.


Candidate

The ideal candidate has a university degree in tax law or fiscal economics and some 7-10 of tax management experience gained at a big4 and at least some years as an in-house tax specialist. You have strong knowledge of Dutch tax laws and regulations and International Tax Planning. You have strong communication skills, the ability to present complex structures in a simple fashion to senior management. You are a self starter, independent with strong intellectual curiosity, strong process focus, passion for simplification and process improvement. Natural ability to partner with and support other functions (e.g. Trade, Sales, Control, Treasury, Legal). Ability to evaluate complex proposals and anticipate, identify, and resolve tax-related risks and opportunities. Familiarity with US GAAP tax reporting regulations is a plus. Fluent in English.
